Maternal weight trajectories affect the expression of genes implicated in metabolism. We assessed the expression level of 32 genes implicated in metabolism or development using TaqMan low-density arrays. The expression of glucokinase (a) in the fetal liver and hydroxysteroid 11-β dehydrogenase 1 (b), insulin receptor substrate 1 (c), and tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (d) in the placental labyrinth was affected by maternal obesity or weight loss at E18.5.
