Interaction network of DMGs and DEGs. An interaction network among the DEGs was generated using STRING, a database of known and predicted protein-protein interactions with the highest confidence score cutoff (score > 0.9). Node corresponds to a DEG, while edge indicates an interaction between two nodes. To visualize DMGs superimposed on the gene interaction network, only the DEGs with corresponding significant change in DNA methylation are labeled and highlighted with the color indicating the direction of methylation change: hypermethylation (red), hypomethylation (green), and both hyper- and hypomethylation (yellow). Major clusters were subjected to functional enrichment analysis in terms of GO and KEGG/Reactome pathways, with the most significantly enriched biological functions annotated in the network. Singletons not connected to another gene were excluded from this network
