TET1 oxidation of 5mC through to unmodified cytosine. After the deposition of 5-methylcytosine by the DNMT enzymes it can be oxidised by the TETs to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-formylcytosine, and then 5-carboxylcytosine, before base excision repair resulting in unmodified cytosine.
