DNA methylation levels at five CpG sites of the gene (except CpG2) in T2D patients were found to be higher than those in NGT subjects, respectively (A). Combining all six CpG sites together, total mean values of SLC30A8 DNA methylation levels were significantly increased in T2D patients compared with NGT subjects (B). Data were means with 95% CI. NGT: normal glucose tolerance (dark bar); T2D-DN: type 2 diabetes without diabetic nephropathy (light grey bar) and T2D + DN: type 2 diabetes with diabetic nephropathy (dark grey bar).
