  1. Each mouse was subjected to this test and was considered to be competent in learning and memory function if they learned to retrieve the food pellet accurately from the eight-arm device by the end of the 21-day period of the experiment. Twelve mice were included in each age group. The results were based on the percentage of mice that passed the test criteria and no statistical analysis was applied
